scooter smash

Tanya, Adam, Clay and I went for a stroll down to the beach. Adam has been getting into his scooter lately and has been getting quite good on it. We got to the beach and Adam had a run on the sand and had a chat with a girl on the swings. He likes chatting and usually finds someone to chat to. After the girl left he linked up with a couple and their toddler. Adam was putting on his show, hitting himself in his head and a falling over and singing songs about his bum. The toddler was loving it and laughing away. Adam then incorporated some stunts running madly and leaping onto the swing. The parents were leaving and Adam asked them to wait he had one more trick so they stayed for an encore.

On the way home we stopped for an ice block and then off home. We went the park way since I reckon it is the safer option. Adam was a way in front and we lost sight of him for a few seconds and then I could see him and his scooter were down. He got up and Tanya said “he has fallen over:”

I ran to him to comfort him and he started to cry. He was going down a little (but steep) hill and had lost it. Luckily he used his face to soften the impact. His lip was bleeding, face was grazed under his nose and his elbow was grazed. I carried him and he cried all the way home. It took some painkillers and 3 ice blocks to settle him and then a lay and some TV had him ok.

He said today he did not want to ride that scooter again. I am planning to get him a new one with brakes on the handlebars and proper wheels so we may have to retire the old one.
